Councilmember At Large
Common Council – Leadership through Cooperation & Respect Over the last decade, I have seen a serious decline in our city services, an increase  in municipal debt and property taxes, lower municipal bond rating (Moody’s), financial  mismanagement, shrinking corporate tax base, high youth unemployment, increase in  water/sewer fees, a garbage collection fees, poor and failing school system, and an  increase in the number of dilapidated and foreclosed homes.   I believe that partisan politics has served its useful purpose on the Common Council  and in the City of Poughkeepsie. We can no longer afford to derail or stall policy  decisions based on party affiliations. My first and most important priority calls for building bi-partisan  cooperation in order to develop a legislative priority agenda to deal with some of the most pressing  issues.  If I am elected at the Councilmember At-Large, I will listen to ALL concerns while giving respect to each  Councilmember, presenter, and guest speaker.  Together, we will work hard to greatly improve and  change the public’s negative perception regarding the tone, attitude, and civic engagement style in the  Common Council chambers.   The Common Council general and committee meetings will be focused on legislative priorities while  monitoring the various departmental goals, objectives, and performance measures.  All meetings will be  civil, professional, and productive. I plan to conduct all meetings in a way that fosters healthy and  productive debate/discussions. I believe my leadership experience, political acumen, and integrity will help bring about the change and  progress we are all looking for.
